There’s a certain hypnotic wonder to Mu Chan Chai’s terraced rice fields. Swirls of undulating green stretch far into the horizon, the setting sun painting them golden yellow while rich moist air decorates the valley with deep velvet ribbons.
We set out to capture the gentle gradients in quartz, with bold flowing veins across a luminous base, while wispy threads of dynamic blue-grey veining illustrate the patchwork rice field observed from high above – giving dimension and perspective to Statuario Venato’s minimal aesthetic. We hoped to capture the glow of the setting sun and the lull of intricate movement from the grand sweeping steps to individual blades of grass as the scene comes to life like a symphony of color in the warm summer breeze.
